Both types of professionals are crucial when it comes to create and develop a product, they work hand in hand, but when we refer to the parts of the process that each of them manages they are different profiles with different positions. That is why it is very important to know the difference between these two disciplines in order to be able to communicate clearly what we’re doing and the direction we’re taking.
On the one hand, UX covers every conceptual aspect of a product, including those that the user can’t appreciate at first sight but that provide him/her with the level of satisfaction he/she was looking for. Therefore, the UX Designer cares about the product usability: the content, the communication with the user, the uploaded speed, the product appearance. In order to that, he/she is in charge of measuring, analyzing and optimizing every single aspect of the service.
On the other hand, UI implies all those things that the user can see and with which he/she interacts. We’re talking about the visual design, the information built upon the device screen, and all the tangible aspects of a product, its appearance and its functions. The UI Designer is the professional responsible for the product’s presentation, and the user’s impressions and reactions. He/she is responsible for making that the product developed by the UX Designer becomes something attractive and appealing for users.
Headhunters and HR (Human Resources) companies are looking for professionals with enough talent and ability to analyze both the context in which they work as well as the user’s needs. They are looking for resolute and inventive professionals with visual and design thinking, with critical and deductive minds, as well as with artistic sensibility, creative conceptualization and high doses of communication, narration and creation skills for design documents.
In the digital era, companies cannot manage without the talent of UX and UI professional designers if they want to stay on top of the market.
